Kenneth C. Ignotis Jr., known affectionately as Ken to his family and friends, left this world on May 11, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on January 19, 1946, in Kearny, New Jersey, Ken was a man of profound integrity and warmth, whose presence lit up the lives of all who knew him.
Ken grew up in Kearny before he bravely served his country in the Vietnam War as a proud Marine. His courageous spirit and dedication to his nation were among his many admirable attributes. Later in his life, he settled in Port Charlotte, Florida, blessed by the love and companionship of his wife of 57 years, Lana Ignotis. Together, they raised a family that included two sons, Joseph and Stephen Ignotis with his wife Tatiana, and two cherished grandsons, Matthew and Marc. Ken was a devoted family man, a rock for his loved ones to lean on, and his family stood at the center of his world. His love and guidance continue to shape their lives.
Although Ken faced the loss of his infant son, Kenneth C. Ignotis III, in 1967, his faith and resilience carried him forward. His brother, Ron Ignotis, stands as a testament to the close-knit family bonds that Ken valued so deeply.
Ken was a great provider and an active member of his community, forging strong connections through his membership in organizations like the Elks in New Jersey and the VFW in Florida. He was a kind and loving soul who never met a stranger, offering a smile and a helping hand to everyone around him.
An outdoorsman at heart, Ken found joy and solace in fishing, hunting, camping, boating, and skiing. His competitive spirit and skill were evident when he played darts, a game at which he excelled. However, it was the family trips to Disney that remained one of his favorite ways to create lasting memories with his loved ones.
Ken's faith played a significant role in his life, as he attended Sunshine Baptist Church for many years, and in his later years, he virtually joined the congregation of First Baptist of Venice. His faith-filled life and kind heart reflected his deeply held beliefs and the way he moved through the world.
Those who knew Ken will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His spirit of kindness infused every interaction, leaving a legacy of love and faith that will be felt for generations to come.
As we bid farewell to Ken, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by service, devotion, and an unshakeable spirit. His memory will be cherished, and his impact will continue to resonate in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Kenneth C. Ignotis Jr.'s earthly journey may have concluded, but his story — one of love, courage, and steadfastness — will remain in our hearts forever. Ken's departure from this world leaves us with profound loss, but also with an example of how to live a life with grace and generosity.
Rest in peace, dear Ken. Your legacy will endure, and your memory will always be a guiding light for your family and all who had the pleasure of knowing you.
