Patricia Marie Tackett

Patricia Marie Tackett, age 66, of Terre Haute, Indiana died on Friday, May 17, 2024. She had been hospitalized for several days, and had been ill for several months. Tish was born on March 17, 1958 in Danville, Illinois. She was the third daughter of James Franklin Mellinger and Lucile Margaret Adams Mellinger. She married John Charles Tackett on March 17, 1999, and he survives. The couple celebrated 25 years of married life in March. Tish has been employed for forty years as an Adult Probation Officer for Vigo County. She graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in Criminology in 1980. Tish was a member of the Indiana Criminal Justice Association, and Indiana Correctional Association. She is survived by a sister, Margaret "Maggi" Ann Mellinger Wyant of Avon, Indiana; brother, James (Shelia) Franklin Mellinger Jr. of Hillsdale, Indiana; two nephews; two nieces; four grand nieces; and two great-grand nieces by bloodline, and many "adopted" ones. She relished sharing her precious animals, giving the human kids the opportunity to share her love of animals and plants. Tish was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jamie Kathryn Mellinger Summers; and a brother-in-law, Allen Walter Summers of Evansville, Indiana. She enjoyed gardening and caring for animals of many kinds. In addition to her shih tzu 'babies' Jamie and Thelma Louise, she owned and cared for over the years goats, llamas, miniature donkeys, and a flock of chickens on their "Funny Farm" in rural Vigo County.
